| Dr.Vadgama
qualified from University College London Dental School in 1981. The
Royal College of surgeons awarded him LDS by examination in 1982. He
is a fellow and Diplomat of the International Congress of Oral
Irnplantologist. He takes a keen interest in cosmetic & aesthetic
dentistry and is a member of Association of Dental Implantology
(U.K) and Academy of American Aesthetic Dentistry (USA). Between
1995 and 1997, he completed a two year intensive training in Implant
Dentistry and Restorative Dentistry at the prestigious Eastman Dental
Institute for Dental postgraduate studies. In the early 1980's, he
established two practices in Kent, when initially most patients
received their treatment on the NHS and before hi-tech modern
technology and evidence based dental knowledge had made an impact on
dentistry. Equipment and techniques we now take for granted had not even
been thought of. Despite these limitations, Dr Vadgama quickly established
both practice's that became known for their excellence and very personal
relationship with each individual patient. Between 1995 to 1997, he undertook
a programme to completely refurbish both the. practice's with the state of the
art facilities together with the installation of hi-tech imaging equipment and
the pursuit for excellence continues into the next millennium. |
The Practice's Today ..
All of us at the
practice realize that each patient has their own expectations and aspirations,
fears and concerns - and that these, together with modern dental techniques
determine the most appropriate treatment. You'll find that we spend
considerable time making sure you know exactly what treatment we recommend,
why we feel it is necessary, how long it will take, how much it will cost, and
most importantly, the benefits you will feel and notice when it is completed.
It's Never too early..
Our youngest patients
come in to look around our gadgets and play with the chair (to them it's a
space ship) - at two and a half years of age. By the time they're three they
thoroughly enjoy coming to visit us - there are not many places where they
have so much fun and receive so much attention, and at the same time we check
their teeth! Prevention is always better than cure, fluoride, and the fissure
sealants we now use, ensure that fillings are hardly ever needed. But if they
are, tiny white fillings set by magic lights are a fascinating experience.
Prevention...
Adult teeth can be
saved. But it requires careful monitoring of both tooth decay and gum disease
.With early remedial action there is no reason why most of us cannot
keep our teeth for the rest of our lives - and avoid the anxiety of major
treatment. And those of us who may have had a bad childhood experience need not
worry - the modern. techniques in anaesthesia and sedation we use are both
safe and comfortable.
Cosmetic Dentistry..
Not
a specific treatment, but a description of the care we take to make sure any
replacement tooth (crown or veneer) or filling looks completely natural. Each
new crown must blend in with the rest of your mouth - subtle shades of colour
need to he painstakingly reproduced; it must match in size and shape. Usually
we use ceramic materials. Less of the tooth needs to be drilled (compared to
an amalgam filling). We restore the tooth by bonding layers of natural tooth -
a reconstruction that will be unnoticeable.
Implant Dentistry ..
Forty years ago losing
all our natural teeth was normal. Dentures were very common - so much so that
in many parts of the country a set were a present for a 21st birthday ! Today
it is no longer necessary to suffer the loss of self confidence and the
dietary restriction often associated with dentures - it is possible to cat an
apple in public without embarrassment.
